The AXIS M7001 Video Encoder offers a very compact design with a superbe H.264 performance and delivers a simple, cost-effective solution for integrating small and large numbers of analog CCTV cameras in an IP-based video surveillance system.

The standalone AXIS M7001, the size of a palm, is designed for placement in the vicinity of an analog camera. It supports all types of analog cameras including PTZ (pan / tilt / zoom) and PTZ domes. The AXIS M7001 is perfect for small and large analog video installations, especially if an IP network infrastructure is already present. The modest dimensions make it ideal for use in discreet surveillance applications, for example in shops and banks, but also in camera housings. The AXIS M7001 can deliver two simultaneous video streams, one in H.264 and the other in Motion JPEG, both in full frame rate and all resolutions up to D1 (720x480 in NTSC, 720x576 in PAL).

The H.264 video compression format drastically reduces bandwidth and storage requirements without compromising image quality. Motion JPEG is supported for flexibility. The video encoder also offers video motion detection. The AXIS M7001 is powered over Ethernet and uses the same cable for data transmission and therefore simplifies installation. The video encoder can, in turn, supply a small spy camera with power using a cable that is included in the AXIS M7001 Covert Surveillance Kit.
