AXIS has decided not to offer remote access after March 31, 2023 for devices that are newly added to an AXIS Camera Companion version 3 environment. AXIS has been offering the option of AXIS Companion version 4 for some time, with a number of conditions for the cameras and the installation.

Upgrading from AXIS Camera Companion Classic to Companion version 4
Depending on the firmware of the cameras within the system, there are several ways to upgrade to the AXIS Companion version 4 environment.
Cameras from firmware 8.4 can be upgraded by placing an AXIS SD-Card in the camera or using an AXIS Recorder.
Cameras with firmware versions lower than 8.4 but at least 5.5 can only be upgraded in combination with an AXIS Recorder, such as the AXIS S3008.
AXIS Companion version 4, not supporting 3rd party NAS
When upgrading to an AXIS Camera Companion version 4, the option to use your own NAS or Network Share as a storage location is no longer available. Within an AXIS Camera Companion version 4 environment, only AXIS SD cards or the AXIS S3008 recorder are supported.
