Description Sony SNC-DM160

The SNC-DM160 is a vandal-proof network mini-dome camera with a 1/3-type progressive scan CCD with ExwavePRO technology and 1.3 Megapixel resolution.

Sony megapixel cameras offer clear, detailed and amazingly clear images for surveillance and security. This new generation with cameras introduces a new ExWavePRO CCD with improved brightness and practical intelligence for any security or surveillance operation. From airports, stadiums and shopping centers to corporate, banks, parking areas and public spaces, the Megapixel range increases the options for securing people, possessions, products and services.

Megapixel and high resolution

The SNC-DM160 has a resolution of 1.3 megapixels (1280x960), which can reproduce clear and detailed images even with a large viewing angle. The camera is ideal for use at entrances and parking areas, where detailed images of, for example, faces or license plates are required. The megapixel resolution is available i.c.m. JPEG compression.

Megapixel and Digital PTZ

Thanks to the megapixel resolution, some degree of digital Pan, Tilt and Zoom is possible. In combination with the motion detection features of the camera, even modest object tracking is possible. For simple applications, a (more expensive) full-featured PTZ camera is then not required.

Megapixel and Cropping function

With the cropping function of the SNC-DM160, certain parts can be omitted from the video image. Often the upper part of the image is filled with sky or a skyline that is not of interest to the observer. By crop these parts out of the image, they are not sent either, resulting in a smaller, bandwidth efficient stream with purely relevant image information.

Progressive Scan CCD ExwavePRO Technology

The SNC-DM160 has the advanced progressive scan CCD with ExwavePRO technology and in combination with color filters this camera offers a very high sensitivity.

Light Funnel function

The camera has a unique function to adjust the sensitivity to moderate light conditions. Light Funnel combines image data collected from multiple horizontal and vertical pixels to subsequently increase the brightness. The result is that the camera can produce excellent images in moderately lit situations, including when monitoring moving objects. This function can be activated automatically in response to the condition of the ambient light or with a fixed time schedule.

JPEG image quality settings with Constant Bit Rate Algorithm

Users can set the JPEG image quality of the camera to 1 of 10 different levels. Moreover, because the camera has a constant bit rate algorithm, the data bit rate can be limited while maintaining high quality images. This is useful for, among other things, calculating the storage capacity and bandwidth and keeping it under control.

Variable Gamma Settings

There is a choice of six preset gamma curves. By selecting a gamma curve that is most suitable for a specific situation, images can be reproduced clearly and sharply.

Easy assembly and installation

The camera can be mounted on a wall or ceiling with the supplied mounting means. Setting the viewing angle is easy. Thanks to the unique, patented ball joint of the lens mechanism, the lens can be moved freely in any direction. There is a composite video output on the front of the camera so that the image can be monitored on site during the installation of the angle of view.

Vari-focal Zoom Lens with large viewing angle

This camera is equipped with a vari-focal, 3.6x zoom lens. This makes an extremely large viewing angle possible up to no less than 100 degrees.

Quick Focus setting

The iris of the camera can be fully opened with the push of a button for quick focus adjustment. In addition, a focus bar is shown on the monitor that allows for accurate and easy setting.

Day / Night function

The IR filter in the SNC-DM160 provides the day / night function and switches between color and black / white mode. This function is automatic but can be set at fixed times or operated manually if required. In the night mode, a low light output is sufficient for the camera to still be able to produce images. That sensitivity can be improved by using one or more IR illuminators.

Compact, robust design

The vandalism-resistant SNC-DM160 camera is encased in a heavy-duty, aluminum housing with an impact-resistant polycarbonate dome cap. It has the IP66 standard for protection against water and dust. In addition, with a built-in heating element, the camera can operate in low ambient temperatures up to -30 C. Thanks to its compact dimensions (140mm diameter), the camera can also be placed in locations with limited space.

JPEG and MPEG-4 compression

The camera supports two compression formats: JPEG and MPEG-4. The industry standard JPEG compression is the best choice for high quality still images. And the MPEG-4 format offers efficient, clear moving images in networks where the available bandwidth is limited.

Dual encoding capability
The SNC-DM160 supports MPEG-4 and JPEG compression, these are individually adjustable and can be used individually, but also simultaneously in VGA resolution at 30fps. Thanks to this dual encoding, it is possible to record high resolution, high frame rate video and view a low resolution, low frame rate live stream (or vice versa) at the same time.

Bi-directional Audio
An external microphone can be connected via the camera's mic / line input connection. It is also possible to connect an active speaker to the intended output, and allows the user to address or listen to visitors or intruders from a remote location.

Voice Alert
With the Voice Alert function, up to three previously recorded audio files can be placed in the camera. These can be played via the locally connected speaker via an alarm trigger.

Intelligent video analytics
Based on the Sony Distributed Processing Architecture (DEPA) platform, this efficient and intelligent processing method unites built-in functions such as Intelligent Motion Detection (IMD) and Intelligent Object Detection (IOD) and also rules of filters that determine which images should be recorded or that there is a alarm must be triggered.

Intelligent Motion Detection (IMD) and Intelligent Object Detection (IOD)
IMD triggers many actions (e.g., image storage / transfer, activates external equipment) and reduces false alarms. IOD is useful for detecting suspicious objects, in public places (luggage left behind) or vehicles that have come to a standstill after an accident. With the IMD and IOD, intelligence has been expanded and refined when used with other DEPA-enabled products.

IEEE802.1X Compliant
The camera supports IEEE802.1X port-based network access control. This means that the camera can be integrated into a network environment that uses the IEEE802.1X clinic authorization protocol for security.

Privacy Zone Masking
The camera can mask up to seven parts of the image for privacy protection. The privacy masking works with both the Motion-JPEG and MPEG streams.
