Discrete video surveillance with exceptionally detailed image

The AXIS 216MFD Network Cameras are discrete fixed dome cameras specifically intended for indoor use and designed for professional video surveillance. The AXIS 216MFD has a tamper-resistant plastic cover, while the AXIS 216MFD-V version has a robust, vandal-proof housing. Both have a 1.3 megapixel image sensor that delivers sharp and clear images, perfect for identifying objects and people. The high quality lens has a DC iris control for a better depth of field and protects the image sensor against overexposure.

The megapixel resolution makes it possible to monitor important areas such as entrances and exits with a high level of detail. The high resolution can also be used for a larger overview. The small rectangle in the image opposite shows the area represented by an analog high-resolution camera. With the same amount of pixels per area, the 1280x1024 resolution of the AXIS 216MFD produces a 3x larger area.

Progressive scan

With the traditional interlaced scanning NTSC / PAL techniques, each image consists of two frames that are shot one after the other and at an interval, and then formed into a (1) image. This results in degraded quality if the image is "frozen". The AXIS 216MFD therefore uses the progressive scan technique whereby the entire image is shot at once at the same time and results in an undistorted image with superior quality and a drastic reduction of the motion-blur effect.

Motion JPEG and MPEG-4

The AXIS 216MFD offers simultaneous Motion JPEG and MPEG-4 video streams in the full 1.3 megapixel resolution. These streams can be optimized for the desired image quality and bandwidth efficiency by configuring the frame rate, resolution, compression level and format and delivers up to 12 frames per second in 1280x1024 resolution and 30 frames per second in 800x600 resolution (partial scan) .

Easy to install

The AXIS 216MFD is quick and easy to install on a wall, hard ceiling or recessed into a soft ceiling. The vari-focal lens can be tilting and turning can be directed at any desired location. With the optional smoked glass covers and recessed (ceiling) mounting kits, the AXIS 216MFD network cameras can be placed very discreetly.

Power over Ethernet

Equipped with Power over Ethernet (PoE) support, the AXIS 216MFD is capable of using the same cable for power and video and makes installation quick and easier. The consolidation of power supply opens the possibility of using a central emergency power supply (UPS), which results in higher durability and availability.

Two-way audio support

The support of two-way audio offers the options to use the built-in microphone or an externally connected microphone. It is also possible to connect an external (active) speaker. This allows the users to "listen in" and address visitors or intruders. Axis' audio enabled video products are able to send an alarm based on an adjustable audio detection level. The Audio features can also be turned off if they are not needed.

Advanced security and network management

The AXIS 216MFD offers the highest level of security through multiple, password-protected access levels, IP address filtering, HTTPS encryption and IEEE 802.1X network access control. "With the right access rights, video from the AXIS 216MFD is accessible from any computer, anywhere and at any time. IPv6 is supported in addition to IPv4 and is a guarantee for the future. Network utilization can be optimized with Quality of Service (QoS), with which network capacity and priority can be reserved in a QoS-aware network.

Powerful event management

The AXIS 216MFD offers powerful event management with multi-window motion detection, audio detection and I / O (input / output) for connecting sensors and external relays to activate doors and lighting. Pre / post-image alarm buffering secures the images before and shortly after an alarm.
